Just like children need special attention, we believe an equal amount of attention needs to be given to the senior citizens of our country. We experienced this when we went to St. Catherine’s home.
St Catherine’s home has close to 100 senior citizens staying at a beautiful place full of greenery and peace. When we went before the event to check on what kind of event would they prefer, we were surprised to know that a lot of them wanted to see a magic show, so on public demand we arranged that . They were completely involved during the magic show and enjoyed every bit of it, their smiling faces said it all… .Few kshana members put up a dance show on an old bollywood song and few volunteers performed a semi-classical dance with emphasis on our culture and values, they were extremely delighted to see this show.
We also made them play a fun game of housie with some exciting gifts; especially the aunties were playing with full enthusiasm. We distributed useful items like napkins and towels as a gift token. We also served snacks and had a lot of individual interaction throughout the entire event.
All they need is a bit of our time and someone who can understand them, just make an effort to be with them and you will see the emotions of love and care flowing your way.
