Masina Hospital Event - 7th March 2010

We had a Kshana Event at Masina Hospital on 7th March 2010. The event was organised for the depressed patients in the hospital. The people at the hospital were very welcoming and they had organized a very delicious meal comprising of biryani and halwa for the patients, their family members and us. Our chairperson Ritesh started the event by introducing Kshana and thanking the hospital authorities for the required permissions. Then our very enigmatic host Aejas took over to increase the excitement levels amongst everyone.

We divided the patients into teams comprising of 6 people each and assigning 2-3 Kshanites to each team to help them out. Each team was asked to keep a name for themselves. The teams came up with brilliant names for themselves, one positive team was called ‘The Dream Team’, one hopeful team was named ‘Surya’, one of very lively teams names themselves ‘East or West, Ekta is the Best’, one happy team decided that ‘Happiness’ was just the right name for their team and the cricket loving teams decided to call themselves ‘Knight Riders’ and ‘Royal Warriors’. We started off by asking anyone if they could recall the names of all the teams. First every name and team seemed very jumbled up but after a few minutes almost everyone could identify all the teams with their respective names. Then we asked the team members to give the names of every person in their team. This really helped us to break the ice.

We had organized a quiz for them and quickly distributed the paper with all the questions it. The team members had to discuss the answers amongst them and finish all the questions in 10 minutes. Some of the team members including some Kshan-ites were on a look out for the person who came up with all those questions so that we could beat that person up ;-) But I have to admit that so many of them were so knowledgeable and they knew the answers to some of the difficult questions which we did not expect them to know.

Once the quiz round got over we had planned an team building activity for them where one person from the team was blindfolded had to walk on a obstacles path made by us and his/her other team members would give him/her directions. All the teams did wonderfully in this game. They were brilliant at giving and following all the instructions and working together as a team and not forgetting to mention that there was so much of cheering for every team. The enthusiasm levels were running very high
The last round was a Relay race which involved running with a lemon in a spoon, hopping and eating chocolates on you way. Must say that the eating chocolate on your way thing was quite a hit with everyone.

Once the relay race ended we decided to have a little dance session of our own. It was a lot of fun seeing so many people dancing with big smiles and happy faces. There was this lady who was one the mother of one of the boys and she was a fabulous dancer! Watching her dance on ‘Desi Girl’ was a treat and we just loved it so much that there were chants of ‘Once More!’ and she had to oblige us by dancing on the same song again

After the dancing session came to an end, we distributed the Frooti which we had bought for everyone and decided to announce the prize winners. All the winning teams were greeted with a big applause and lots of cheering. Lots of pictures were clicked and we gave all the winning teams a Kshana Cap – a little something with which they can always remember us

The doctor incharge also came forward and introduced his brilliant and hardworking team to us. He thanked us for making the Sunday very special and gave all of us small souvenirs to take back with us. This gesture really touched our heart
We said our good byes, wished everyone goodluck and left the place with that blissfully happy feeling.

Would also like to add that we had a brilliant group of volunteers at this event! The event was so much more fun thanks to all you enthusiastic guys!
